JUNIOR BARRISTER - TAX CONTROVERSY
An opportunity exists for a junior barrister to join the tax practice of Geoff Clews. The work is mainly in tax disputes and related litigation. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the practice including attendances at Court and before the Taxation Review Authority, preparation of Court documents and materials, liaising with instructing solicitors, interviewing witnesses, briefing evidence, and research and opinion work. Applicants should: • Have 2-3 years tax experience with a recognised accounting or legal tax practice and be admitted to the Bar. • Hold solid qualifications in law and accounting. • Be able to analyse and present financial information understandably. • Be able to identify legal issues and research them thoroughly. • Write well. • Be keen to develop advocacy skills in tax and related matters. • Be enthusiastic, intelligent, willing to learn and able to get on well in a small team. Remuneration will reflect the successful candidate’s abilities and experience and the contribution he or she makes to the practice.
